The Evolving Self |
Adulthood is a long arc of time. It begins in one’s twenties and touches down somewhere across the distance of decades. Each decade and each overlapping era of decades is a place in time with unique callings and challenges. A place in life-time with its own exuberant fulfillments and erosive failings. Its own drives,
dreams, and re-definitions. Each era of lived experience shapes the progressive story of the evolving self. |
You may be at the beginning of your adult years, navigating the middle years transition, deepening into your mature years, or somewhere intertwined and in between. Wherever you are, I understand how your life-time informs your experience and perspective. Your place along the continuum of your history and future informs the nature of your distress and healing, in the day-to-day and along the broader arc of the ever-growing Self.
In the day-to-day living of adult life, it is not uncommon to feel disconnected from yourself, from your life, and from others. Panic, anxiety, depression, confusion, loss, overwhelm, numbness—these can feel like powerful forces separating you from the vibrant, productive, purposeful life you imagined or lost somewhere along the way. You may be facing unwelcome change or seeking the courage to enact intentional change. You may find difficulty coping with the demands of daily life, or obstructions in your path toward larger dreams.
Along the broader arc, you may be outgrowing old ways. You may be examining deeper issues of meaning, identity, purpose, and priorities. You may be grieving disappointments in life, in yourself, and in others. You may be facing the realities of aging. You may be looking for a guide during a bittersweet transition from one era of your life to the next.
